Regan Fernandes, 32, moved to the UK from India 10 years ago and worked in a factory.
But he dreams of cutting hair and opened Avron's Hair Salon on Morley Street last month on April 29.
President Reagan said: Some people helped me, but I mostly did it by myself.
“It was difficult to come all the way from there and open my own shop in a faraway country.The culture was very different.
Originally from Goa, he moved to Italy and then the UK in search of a better job, and started working at a Honda factory at the age of 23.
He recalls: In other words, 300 machines do the same thing a day. ”
He knew he wanted to be a barber from the age of 17 and began training part-time at Guy's Barbers in Drive Road, Swindon.
he said: “Back home, this job is seen as a really low-level job. A haircut costs less than a pound. But I've always loved getting haircuts. It makes a huge difference. is born.”
His favorite haircut is the Caesar cut, but most people come for the taper and skin fade.
He said Guy's owner was a “really good guy” and now wanted to inspire other young people to follow their dreams.
“It's important to inspire other young people to follow their dreams and be brave,” he said.
“People want to do barbering but are afraid to do it or don’t have the opportunity to start.
“So if someone wants to become a barber, I would love to help with training and other things.”
President Reagan hopes to provide an apprenticeship for the next generation. I hope to help other young people in the same way that Guy's Barbers has helped me.
But he enjoys owning his own shop and the future looks bright.
“I'm sure it'll work out,” he smiled. “If you work hard, you'll get something back. It's all about working hard and making sure people smile.”
