His innovative concept was recognized in Small Business Saturday, a campaign that celebrates the success of small businesses, encourages people to 'shop local' and supports traders in their communities.

Jiggi was featured in recognition of his inspiring entrepreneurial journey, which saw him reach the finals of this year's Small New Business due to his innovative approach to trading within 18 months.

British Small Business Commissioner Michelle Ovens told the House of Lords on Saturday: “Small and medium-sized businesses like Gigi Mobile Barbers provide incredible value to local communities and the economy as a whole, which is why they are recognized in the House of Lords. It's great to be able to celebrate their contributions.”

“Public support is absolutely essential for small businesses across the UK, so I appeal to everyone across the country to support them.”

Mr Gygi, who has customers in Knutsford, Wilmslow and Mid-Cheshire, said:

“I like the more creative side of meeting and connecting with people.”

His business launched in June 2023 and offers haircuts, bear trims, and hair tattoos.

An expert on all hair types, Gigi visits gyms, fitness clubs, workplaces, markets, and homes.

Personal commitments are made in advance.

“I ride in my barber van to events, health clubs and artisan markets,” said Gigi, who has been cutting hair for the past 20 years.

“I park at Knutsford Makers Market and Wilmslow Makers Market.

“My business concept is to provide a more personal service to customers without having to wait in line. This saves time and is convenient for customers.”

Building trust with clients is very important.

“People want to chat,” Gigi said. “If you want to talk to your barber, it has to be someone you trust. It's all confidential.”

Jiggi offers group bookings for weddings and is happy to take part in charity events.

Dan Edelman, General Manager, UK Merchant Services at American Express, founder and lead sponsor of the campaign, said:

“Small Business Saturday is still as important a campaign as it was when it first started.

“That's why American Express encourages people to shop small and proudly champions the independent businesses people love as key supporters.”
