SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KABC) — A horrifying video taken at a San Bernardino barbershop shows a clipper exploding into flames.

Gavin McCheyne said the incident happened on Wednesday at a barbershop in Pulga Katz. The man said he had just finished giving a man a haircut when the clippers caught fire. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

“I'm sitting on the couch with my friends and I hear, 'Boom!'” he recalled.

McCheyne said the clippers (Instinct clippers, made by a company called StyleCraft) have only been on the market for just two months, adding that they're becoming more popular because they're cordless.

“Previously, I had specific clippers to reduce volume, such as working with thicker sections of hair, but I also needed to do side fades and needed something less powerful and more detailed. Masu.”

Eyewitness News has reached out to StyleCraft Pro for comment regarding this incident, but has not received a response.

McCheyne, on the other hand, said she uses a different brand of clippers. Other barbershops are also considering the switch.

“I still use that version of the clippers, but after that incident I might throw them away,” said barber Abraham Cervantes.

“I'm just glad I didn't injure my client who was thinking about it right next to his head and my hands,” McCheyne said. “This is how I make money, right? I can't work without using my hands.”
