COLUMBIA — Columbiana Barber Shops is assisting area families as they prepare to return youth to the classroom in late August to early September.
The store has been located at 14 S. Main St. since opening in April 2023. Jake Ward said he and store owner Tommy Mastran decided to collect school supplies to help local families in need.
There are no residency restrictions on who can pick up items locally, and the district welcomes parents from any local school district to participate.
He thanked Andy Guessman and Tristan Reynolds for supporting the project, which has been well-received so far.
If you look to the back left of the store behind the barbershop, you can see more than 30 backpacks hanging from the ceiling and boxes containing pencils and other school supplies placed on tables.
Ward said they received more than 100 boxes of crayons, but could definitely use more notebooks and binders for distribution.
