A barber shop customer jumped from his seat during a haircut to help a police officer who was being attacked.
Kyle Whiting was in his barber shop when he saw a police officer standing near a man waiting at a bus stop in Warrington, Cheshire.
The gunman, wearing a black jacket and gray hoodie, punched the officer and pushed him to the ground in the attack at about 11:40 a.m. Tuesday.
Without a moment's hesitation, Mr. Whiting jumped out to help the officer, his barber's cloak still around his neck.
He pulled the assailant away from the officers as other witnesses gathered to help before police backed up.
Another officer ran over a marked police car that was parked around the corner, and a second police car pulled up.
The attacked officer suffered a broken finger and bruised ribs in the scuffle. A 50-year-old man was arrested following the incident.
Whiting, who was getting a trim at Furlong Barbers, said: “I was sitting in a chair having the hair on the back of my head shaved.
